"For a greatness of beauty I have never experienced anything like New Mexico. . . . What splendor! "  — D.H. Lawrence

The land and light of Santa Fe, along with its adobe architecture, brilliant light and mulitcultural flavor have drawn painters and photographers for more than a century. You will photograph this unique place with award-winning photographer Craig Varjabedian, in an atmosphere of adventure and discovery. Craig has explored and photographed New Mexico for more than thirty years and will share his favorite places with you. You will have opportunities to photograph the historic adobe architecture, cowboys on a western ranch and the red hills and mesas of Georgia O'Keeffe country.

We will be based in Santa Fe and will tour by van to nearby locations, where you will receive one-on-one instruction in the field, on technical and aesthetic issues. Whether you are pointing your camera at a magnificent rock formation or capturing the dynamic weather that is common here, you'll spend time challenging yourself and improving your image making vision and skills. Class discussions will be held at Craig's studio in Santa Fe. Along with receiving feedback on your images, you will learn about such aspects of digital photography as histograms and HDR.

This workshop is terrific for all digital photographers well grounded in both manual and program modes of their digital camera. You will need to have Lightroom installed on your laptop computer and have a basic understanding of the software. You need to know how to use auto bracketing on your camera. You should be prepared to carry your own gear and be capable of walking and light hiking on trails and varied terrain.

Lots of enthusiasm for making pictures. Your digital camera with lenses, tripod, and filters. A laptop computer with image editing and manipulation software. (We will provide a complete list of necessary gear before the workshop begins.)

Ground transportation during the workshop, photographic instruction/guiding, one group dinner and location fees. Please call our studio for further information.
